Friday at Wollman Auditorium, Broadway at 115th Street, the group played circumscribed but invigorating big-band music. Mr. Parker's arrangements of his own tunes and pieces by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Billy Strayhorn are bustling affairs in which the band's two trumpets, four saxophones and trombone usually mesh for thick chords or multiple, intertwined solos. Meanwhile, Mr. Parker's drum patterns push the band like pistons.His
